In Akkadian religion, the name for the goddess Ninlil. The name is derived from 'beltu' or 'beltum', meaning "lady" or "mistress". The term was expanded to Belit-ili, meaning "Lady of the Gods", which was the name used for the Sumerian goddess Ninhursag.
