Lari
Also called: Larestani

Iranian (southwestern) language, spoken by 80,000 in Iran, by the Lari people. It belongs largely to the Larestan region of the Fars province, continuing into Hormozgan province.
It is a vital language, used in commerce in the region, but it does not have a writing system. Many Lari have good conduct of Persian and Gulf Arabic, and Lari speakers generally resort to Persian when writing.
Lari is related to the middle Persian language of Pahlavi, which is similar to modern Persian. Lari shares many words with Persian, but has adopted less Arabic words than Persian. The grammar is very different, in particular the verbal system.
