The Rosetta river passing the town of Rosetta, Egypt.

River 320 km long in northern Egypt, one of two main outlets of the river Nile. The Rosetta largely defines the western border of the Nile Delta.
The river begins about 13 km northwest of Cairo centre, same place as the Damietta. A low barrier controls the water levels though the year. The Rosetta is navigable most of its stretch and in addition to feeding agriculture for a wide region, it also has rich fisheries.
Along the river lies towns like Desouk (120,000 inhabitants), Fuwah (68,000); and Rosetta (80,000).
The river empties into the Mediterranean Sea at Burg Migheizil.
