Rosh Hashanah
Hebrew: rosh ha-shana
Rosh Hashanah is celebration of the Jewish new year, taking place on the 1. and 2. of the month Tishri, and falls normally in October, but sometimes September.
Central to Rosh Hashanah are ideas on judgement and penance. Heavenly books are opened, and the acts of mankind get examined, and the faith of each individual is set for the coming year.
In the sermons during Rosh Hashanah, it is of utmost importance to beg for God's forgiveness. The theology of Rosh Hashanah is strongly connected to the sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham, symbolizing the will to sacrifice to God the way every man should feel it.
