Saveh

City in central Iran with 185,000 inhabitants (2009 estimate), in the Markazi Province, at an elevation of 1,030 metres.
Modern industries is the main factor in local economy, Saveh is home to the Kaveh Industrial City, the largest of its kind in Iran. Local agriculture specializes in wheat, cotton, pomegranates and melons.
It is connected to other urban centres of Iran by highways, Teheran is 100 km northeast.
As far as legends go, Saveh is the hometown of the Magi who travelled to Bethlehem to visit infant Jesus. Locals claim that they are buried here.
Saveh was for long an important centre for culture and learning, until the destruction of its library by the Mongols in the 13th century CE.
