Shahr Kord
Town in western Iran with 110,000 inhabitants (2005 estimate), capital of the Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari Province with 850,000 inhabitants (2005 estimate) and an area of 16,201 km². It is in the Zagros Mountains.
The economy is based upon the production of bricks, mosaics, milled rice, woven cloth, animal feed, candy, stockings and gloves, coarse carpets and rugs and fruit juices. There is also a thermoelectric-power plant in town.
