(Dead 722 BCE) Ruler of Assyria 727-722 BCE, 5 years.
As all of his inscriptions were destroyed by his successor, little is known about his reign. The only exception to this, is the siege of Samaria, which is attested for by foreign sources.

Biography
Under his given name, Ululayu, he is governor of Zimirra in Phoenicia.
727: His father, king Tiglath-Pileser 3 dies, and Ululayu becomes new king, taking the name Shalmaneser.
725: Begins a siege on Samaria in Israel.
720's: Sargon becomes co-regent, possibly because of Shalmaneser's continued absence.
722: During the siege on Samaria he dies, possibly killed. Sargon 2 would take the throne.
