Zile
Town in eastern Turkey with 60,000 inhabitants (2004 estimate) in a fertile plain watered by small rivers that flow into the Yesil River in the north.
Zile is the centre of an agricultural region, specializing in cereals and sugar beets. The sugar beets are sent to a refinery in Turhal 20 km northeast.
Zile has fair road connections with other urban centres. Tokat is 70 km east, Amasya 60 km north and Sivas 170 km southeast.
Zile town is set around the foot of a hill which is crowned by a ruined fortress.
