ABU SIMBEL:
Practicalities

Eat and Sleep
Few visitors to Abu Simbel spend the night, but for those with money, there are a few upmarket options. For those with less money, there is not much on offer and not at the best price. Camping is not legal in Abu Simbel.

Transportation
According to the last reports, the road between Aswan and Abu Simbel was closed, due to security reasons. Air flights are relatively affordable, and can safely be booked as late as the day before leaving.
The most elegant way of reaching Abu Simbel is with cruise on Lake Nasser. But you should be careful about the time schedule, many of these cruises stop only briefly on the sights along the lake, and often just an hour or so at Abu Simbel.
