LUXOR:
Walls paintings of Luxor Temple

Luxor, Egypt

Luxor, Egypt

Luxor, Egypt

Wall decorations of Luxor Temple are actually not up the standard of many other important Ancient Egyptian temples. The reliefs are not deep, carvings not advanced and colours are rarely seen. The latter may well have an explanation, as exposure to sun and air over time destroys paintings.
Still, the decorations here are of great interest for the religion and culture of Ancient Egypt.
Top photo contains information about animal life and its economy, the second indicates an oxen sacrified, or to be sacrified in a religious ritual.
The last photo is noteworthy for being one of few examples of art representing sex which have survived the religious zeal of especially the Christians, but also the later Muslims. Even more, because the image is low on the wall, and easy to reach.
