Temple of Merneptah. Colourful decorations
One of rather few wall-decorations showing Merneptah. This is exhibited in one of the adjacent houses.

Merneptah must have ordered the Temple of Amenophis 3 stripped of most of its wall-decorations. There were an unusual amount of stolen decorations in his funerary temple, and the majority of royal imagery actually shows Amenophis 3.
The upper photo is an exception, and fortunately it is beautiful in both carving and colouring.
The wall-decorations here are unusually brights and attractive. Colours have survived better than what you are used to in most temples, and the white background used here make the colours shine even more. This is what should make people come to this site.
