Tripoli Airport, Libya

Tripoli Airport.

Roads in Libya

Roads into the Sahara. This is the way between Sebha and al-Aweinat, leading onto Ghat in Libya's southwester corner.

One of the great things about Libya were the fantastically low airfares. You could get from Tripoli to Benghazi for US$10 (at black market rates). All of the country can be covered with planes, but the flights are popular, and the organization not very good. Today, the condition of the planes is critically affected by the international restrictions on imports of spare parts. Otherwise, roads are first class, and buses are air-conditioned, but there are no railways in Libya. The cost of transportation is reflection of the price level for air flights, but almost just as popular.
