HERGLA:
Tiny mosque

Hergla, Tunisia

Hergla, Tunisia

The mosque in the centre of Hergla proper, is built in commemoration of the holy Muslim man Bou Mendel. Note, not around his grave, which is the custom in so many other places in Tunisia. Bou Mendel flew away upon his death to Mecca on a handkerchief!
The mosque is strikingly simple and effective in its appearance. It does give the feel of a Jerban mosque.
