Tozeur airport lies about 5 km north of town, and is a small airport mainly serving chartered flights. There are also 5 weekly connections with Tunis.
The airport is quite effective and you should be through its checkpoints within short time.
Getting from the airport is done by taxi, and you should expect to pay about 5TD one way.
According to the information we have gathered there are a few company for car rentals operating from the airport. Of international companies only Europcar is there.
We have no information about tax-free shops at the airport, but we believe that there must be at least a basic outlet.
Arriving at this airport, you're right in the middle of a great selection of desert destinations. Tozeur itself is the perfect oasis, with all facilities, while Nefta 25 km away is more dominated by religious buildings. The mountains offer a great selection of sights, like desert oases like Mides, Tamerza and Chebika. Not to mention the surreal canyon of Seldja Gorge, which you will travel through by the old royal train.
A real touch of the desert you get by crossing the Chott el Jerid, where you will arrive in the smooth oases of Douz, Kebili and a string of others.
