Street fountains   Zaghouan's origins were with its resources of water, feeding Carthage by 132 km-long aqueduct. Today, the only functional water services is the handful of street fountains. Locals use these all the time, and as far as I know foreigners risk nothing by drinking this water. The fountains were very picturesque and run-down a few years ago, but has undergone restorations since my first visit in 1996.
