The facade of the Çem Evi is not an expression of Alevi preferences, but an illustration on how life is for a religious minority in a Muslim country.

A Çem Evi is the Alevi version of a church or a mosque, although it is a not a religious building that covers the complete range of cultic activities.
Locals gather in the Çem Evi to act out millennia old rituals of lute music, singing, ring dances that can shift towards trance at times. Men and women partakes on an equal basis in the rituals.
A Çem Evi is decorated with a fascinating collection of elements. Many are Islamic in nature, and there are many references to "Allah", "Muhammed" and "Ali", many are not. Carpets cover the entire floor.
