Hotels and alternatives
Being a large city and tourist destination, the offer on hotels in Antalya is really wide. You simply can expect to find exactly what you search for. It begins with humble places that are priced ridiculously low to snotty, jet set places where you could expect paparazzi to be lurking in the bushes. A large part of hotels in Antalya are run enthusiastically, drawing on culture and history.
Tourists coming to Antalya to explore the city, should very much consider staying in the old town, the Kaleiçi.
Restaurants and alternatives
Food in Antalya is hit or miss, I find. There are plenty of places serving up delicious food, but it seems that the demands of travellers exceeds the number of chefs a city like this can produce. Antalya is another place where you cannot judge what expects you in terms of food from the look of the establishment. Among the places that are recommended the rough but good Parlak, the more sophisticated Ayar Meyhane and 7 Mehmet. In Kaleiçi, both the charming Villa Perla and elegant Alp Pasa welcome non-guests to their restaurants; expect the first to be cheaper, but about the same standard in food.
As for ice cream, do by all means check out Tek Tat in the pedestrian area of the modern town; best ice cream I've had for years.
Night life
Antalya has options both for going out drinking, as well as clubbing. Kaleiçi has many nice bars, but beware that prices can some places be extremely expensive. So check around before you start ordering.
Night clubs range from dance clubs to cande lit tables with live music. Admission is affordable, between 6 and 25 lira per person.
Culture
Antalya has a theatre that has shows that could be of interest to many, ranging from opera and ballet to folk dancing. Tickets are very affordable, rarely exceeding 10 lira per person.
Transportation
Antalya has the very best communications in this part of Turkey, from minibuses to every likely destination to international air connections.
In addition to a great number of charter connections, there are also normal international flights to important European destinations. Check website for information.
